Biography

I am not only interested in photography but in many other creative pursuits, which is not a good thing when it comes to time management. Photography tends to make the least mess and thus is high in priority as I live in an apartment in the beautiful city of Sydney, Australia. I describe my style as "all over the shop" and I have no intention of specialising. My creative side is often at odds with my technical side but I try to create and share images that evoke a smile, for whatever reason. All of my photographs are copyrighted and are sold for personal use only.

Thank you, vision, also for the share. A pretty tight frame for an environmental portrait, but his attire and accessories give a good indication, anyway.

Good point, Howard! I was using Mike Browne as a shield, though.

He was probably a large enough shield. I sprinkled some water that the druids believed had healing powers on my camera in the hope of improving my images but all I got was a ruined camera. (See my image "Druid's Dawn".)

No comment on my "shield". – I remember your photo, Howard, and I even knew that you referenced that when you made the comment... Hope your camera was rescued by the application of a lint-free holy cloth!

Thank you, Joe. Not sure why the top bit is missing, but I liked the light washing over this, and the usual small gap of nobody walking through the frame.

... which can be a good or a bad thing. Here we obviously have very attractive people who help illustrate how narrow and steep those steps are. They also provide a nice segue for my travelogue. Thank you for commenting, Peter!

Nice! The wet reflective surfaces help your photo. Intense thunder is really something one needs to experience, eh?

Thanks, Joe. I remember thunderstorms in the Alps, when the rolling thunder went on for a bit and echoed off the mountains, and one wondered whether some of the mountains would come with it. But this was just a single clap, as if all the energy had been exhausted with it. We asked our resident chronographer Melissa Fox whether she happened to have the iPhone rolling at the time, was the clap recorded? "Yes, but it also recorded the [jump into the air motion]." I have not seen/heard the footage yet, probably never will.

Thank you, Michael. Mike had taken a photo of a young monk running down those steps in a previous year, so not only were we sheltered from the rain (sort of), we also hoped for a repeat situation – close enough. I have more shots similar to this one, might upload some in a few months' time as a "refresher".

Great use of scale, It's a shame the conditions were a little gloomy, because under slightly stronger light, his robes would have stood out more strongly against the building, which I think would have looked fantastic.
