A passion for insects , spiders , wildlife and nature in general resident in the UK or as a migrant species voluntary or by accident.
I have been fascinated by insects since childhood and although I love photographing all wildlife in its many forms most of my summer photography is concerned with macro shots of the little six and eight legged creatures often ignored by many people going about their business.
Our gardens team with all kinds of insects in the warmer months many doing us a great service by way of pollination which most people when asked only credit bees for.
I get great pleasure from my hobby and I do hope others may enjoy my photo's too but more so if it encourages others to look closer at the myriads of insects visiting their prized plants and flowers each year.
For my macro work I normally use a Canon 1D MkIV camera with a Canon 100mm f2.8 L series IS macro lens. All shots are taken with camera hand held ....... and fingers crossed :0)
The benefits of digital photography enable me to take numerous shots of my subject (usually 2 or 4 ) in an effort to ensure I might get at least one I am happy with.
I try and do minimal alterations to the resulting image and follow the old adage of ' you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear ' but any processing I do is using Photoshop Elements 10
My other wildlife / bird shots are taken using either the Canon 1D MkIV or a 7D Mk2 coupled with either a Canon 300mm f2.8L IS or Canon 500mm f4L IS lens plus or minus a 1.4x extender
My very rare landscape shots are taken using the Canon 7DMk2 coupled with one of the first lenses I ever bought :- Tamron 18-270 f3.5 - 6.3 VC (Mk 1 )
