Biography

I live in central Florida and enjoy traveling and exploring with my Canon 7D. I also enjoy working with Photoshop to make adjustments from small enhancements to experimenting with multiple effects sometimes resulting in images that are very different than the original raw image.

What a wonderful image. I love this scene. So well composed and I agree with Howard. The vignette is nice and descriptions, even very brief ones would be good to go with your many lovely images.

This image has a pleasant mood and the vignette draws the eye into the frame. I'd be interested to read a description with your images, I'm sure you'll have something to say. The beauty of this image is in contrast to your gritty FB posts.

Fascinating place Mark. We have two labyrinth petroglyphs not far from me at remote Rocky Valley near Tintagel, North Cornwall. There is some debate over their age possibly Bronze Age (1800-1400 BC or Celtic / Iron Age (500 BC - 200 AD). Another theory suggests that maybe it was watermill workers in the last 200 years as initials and date carvings have been found at a nearby derelict mill.

Thanks for commenting Richard. I sometimes wonder how accurate they are when they date these things. Of course I'm simply quoting what they claim. It's interesting the huge difference in theories regarding the dates of the petroglyphs near you.

Yes it is quite a range. I suppose that to an extent they can take into account erosion, tools used, other similar examples, cultural histories, date first recorded etc. Whatever their precise age I think they will always remain intriguing.

Cool picture. I wasn't aware there were petroglyphs there or I would have checked them out when I visited. I studied archaeology and anthropology in college although I didn't pursue it as a career.

Thanks Gary. I wasn't aware either until we went there and they had some information in the visitor brochure about it. So it was a nice surprise. :-)

Wouldn't it be lovely! Was thinking today how much kindness, encouragement, gratitude and appreciation is missing in our world today. And how much better our world would be if there was more of it. May we each do our little bit.

At least it is doing it photogenically - unlike the squirrels that have been attacking my favourite oaks, and who are about to become ex-squirrels.

Ahem, Peter, I would just like to mention that my paternal coat of arms features a squirrel (we cannot all have lions and eagles), therefore, I trust your mean relocating your squirrels to a different arboreal area. "My" squirrel holds an acorn and there is an oak tree in the background.

I am 100% certain that your coat of arms features the beloved and harmless (to trees, wildlife, etc.) Red Squirrel. In the unlikely even that he turns up in any of the traps he will be released immediately and not relocated to the barbecue.

You are 100% correct indeed, Peter. The red one is much nobler, and the cheeky grey ones are invaders. I guess detention is not an option...
