Thoughts on composition

Post by dave2508 » Sat Apr 01, 2017 12:56 pm

Hi everyone

I have had a good comment on composition of this image
But I have had feed back that I should have included the rest of the shackle at the top of the image. What do others think.

Thanks
Dave

There's no compositional rule that would fit this.
You've chose to be creative with the crop and the rest is implied.

To have included it all would have just been a standard picture of some metal :)

I think Teo is right. However, it might be an idea to have the rope going more diagonally through the frame.

Nice picture Dave.

I am in no way qualified to comment on composition. I can only offer my impression as follows:

The weight of the chain implies it has a job.. securing or anchoring something. In my mind it was the focus. The rope added interest and I really loved the texture.. but it doesnt seem to have a purpose.. it just looks draped across the chain.

If you were at liberty to move the elements.. Id suggest coiling the rope under the chain or looping the rope through the chain to form a purpose or connection for the rope??
