The laser would work, you couldnt use a shutter though and you'd have to use a flash with a t1 of circa 1,000,000 of a second would certainly be fun

Well this system comes complete with laser and can be hooked up to your flash as well, so I'm guessing it would be ideal for a shotgun blast lol.

My lovely lady tried it out on lightning last night and got a great pic of a fork lightning strike, however she took it through our bedroom window so it showed the drops of rain etc. on the window too. I can't get over how easy it is to set up.

Well, for safety reasons I would probably use blanks for the flaming muzzles shots, on account of the positioning of camera (and photographer).

However, this was pretty cool : http://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/281923

That's an incredible shot for both cameraman and gunman

With a muzzle shot using blanks you could use the sound to trigger your camera and I think that would work or even light, like my lady did with the lightning.

That photo was taken using a light gate and no gun man as well as a phenomenal flash.

I would be very keen to see the results Peter amd if you want company or helpi'd love to be involved. A combination of guns and cameras sounds like an awesome weekemd!

Was that done using a sound sensor? If so it means the lightning must linger for a very long time comparatively

Excellent - not far from you either, and we have various forms of "accommodation" on site, so you don't even need a camper. I have been plotting some sort of skillshare / experimentation weekend anyway. You are now officially on the (very short so far) list!

No sound involved just triggered by the sudden fluctuation of light caused by the lightning.
