Well, my personal ideas are drifting towards things like specialist topics - locations, subjects, calendars, etc. I want to remain a "fine art photographer" (apparently it doesn't have to be fine or art - simply not commissioned), and was influenced in this by a friend who is a chainsaw artist. He makes stuff all the time (sculptures) and prefers to sell stuff already made than "to order". The reason is that if something is already done ... then no-one is going to complain about it. Same I guess with photography, if you get asked to take pictures then they usually aren't right (altho' free tickets to festivals always welcome!).tomoswald wrote:Of anything in particular Peter?petermillar wrote:Marketing success stories (non-commissioned work)
As a "semi-pro" (in the sense of getting money from it but not reliant on that as income) I am pretty fortunate, but spend a bit of time wondering how to make it work and having ideas. For example, people say you should not work for free, but how about work in exchange for model releases so you can use the output as stock? Anyone tried it? Did it work?
Sorry - this is a jumble of thoughts. Not feeling very coherent today.
