I have given the go ahead to image and thumbnail quality imrovements today.

This will likely work in a 2 stage process, a quick compression to get the photos on the site quickly, then a longer resampling and recompression process to increase the image quality that may take a few hours (however this would decline as our available computing power increases)

Yay, woo hoo. :D 8-)

I think this will be one of the biggest improvements to the site really. I know the image quality has been the biggest criticism of the site to date, so hopefully this improvement will keep us all happy.

Thanks very much Tom.

I've given up uploading high dpi photos to this site. Seems clicasnap compresses the hell out of them leaving flat colourless images. at 96dpi its fine so that blows any chance of becoming a seller..

Actually it's not ClickAsnap that does it, it's the browser resizing the images and recompressing them which makes them a lower resolution. The new fixes sort this leaving much higher resolution images for viewing

Also the image you view, isn't the image the user buys fyi

You can see the new changes here viewtopic.php?f=8&t=923
