The Social Gathering

Post by naturemanartogra » Wed Mar 18, 2020 12:41 pm

Hi all

just thought we have no way of chatting with each other and some of us are on here a lot. Also with the covid 19 going around and all the infection controls that are happen. I thought it might be a good idea to have a room where we can just chat about normal every things. Yes, shop talk is allow to. After all, we here because we click a snap ;)

Yes, it might be very slow to start with until other people catch on here. I will leave you to say your peace on this, I'll be back later.

Henry

Excellent idea, I have always thought this forum is under-used. Not exactly sure why, but I think Tom said it was something to do with there being two platforms (?) and so not easy to integrate so that you can nip back and forth into the main site (e.g. to see who you are chatting to). Hope everyone is coping OK of course, I for one have cheered myself up with a bit of clickasnapping this morning after a fallow period and some medical aggravation.

We'd love to see the forum used more but it just doesn't seem to happen at the moment. No idea why not

I think two things would help, if they were possible. First, if you could click on the user name and get to their profile page (e.g. Henry / NaturePictures on this thread, who I don't "know" on CAS). The second booster would be if there could be another "notifications" thing on the profile page, for new comments on a forum thread you are following. For example, you commented here, I thought you might, so came and had a little look. If not, I may never have known, if that makes sense. Of course, I have no idea about the tech implications or complications, and hope you are keeping well in the Lockdown Tom!

PS - when I said "profile page" I meant the CAS phototgraphy profile, not the forum profile. But a link from forum profile to photo profile would be good as an alternative

Some good ideas there Peter. I'll ask about the feasibility of doing it
