Great Egret landing at the roost - 7077

Great Egret landing at the roost. This roost is on a small island in the middle of a small lake. Egrets, Anhingas, Comorants, and Ibis can be found there most evenings. It is quite a system they have. The birds like the trees because the Alligators lay below and that gives the birds protection from other animals. The Alligator on the other hand knows that at some point a bird or two will feel too safe and move near to the water and then the Alligator will have it for dinner. It is quite a cycle to see.
