Remembrance Day 2018

Remembrance Day 2018. To mark Remembrance Day this year my friend Patrick and I visited the crash site of a Flying Fortress near Meltham to pay our respects. This is not a picture of the crash site itself but instead it was taken nearby. The crew were not on an active mission but crashed on Meltham Moor in bad weather while out testing an engine. All the crew survived but two were badly injured and one died of his injuries a few years later. After the crash one of the crew members went for help taking four hours to get off the moor and find it.

A beautiful tribute Howard. My GrandDad served on the USS Kansas (BB 21), a battleship, during WWI. Because of him I joined the US Navy after high school and made it a career. To me, your photo captures the sense of the aftermath of war in the light falling onto the ground by the rock. Beautiful work Howard.
