Wrigley's Cabin

Wrigley’s Cabin. This is an old Shepherd’s shelter on top of Issue Edge, Black Hill, above Holmfirth. It is surprisingly small, there is not enough room to lie down inside, but there is a fireplace, so it must have been cosy. What I don’t understand is that with all this moor to choose from they built it on the flightpath to Manchester Airport?

I think the building was there earlier than the Airport?

Beautiful light and colors! The clouds look so low - the airplanes must just squeak by.

Thank you. Black Hill is 1,909 feet and the airplanes do come over quite low on their approach to Manchester, but there's plenty of room.

Another beautiful well composed image with an interesting sky. The realtor that sold it to them told them the planes come in from the other direction. ;-)

Its location was probably a planning requirement by English Heritage. I guess that the builder's first choice would have displaced a family of newts or trampled on a few flowers.
