Camp

one of my favourite things I did this summer was camp at YellowStone. it's early morning before the sun rose and during the pink-purple-blue and magenta hour - the skies were vibrant with colour. This is borderline Montana and Wyoming and I couldn't believe that there were huge white pelicans swimming here. A local fisherman said well, they do know where the best fish are. I always thought they lived at sea :-)

Thank you, Howard! My photo is so unlike the natural colours of yours. That's me though. Even when I was a kid, I never could get the hang of colouring inside the lines. Thank you for sharing!

In Australia pelicans are mostly sea dwellers - until it floods through the inland, and Kuta-Thunda/Lake Eyre starts to fill up. It’s in the middle. Then the pelicans come from the sea, to there. How they know is amazing. That they go to the middle is amazing. Birds to admire. As for the image . . . Simply stunning! Jaw droppingly so.

I with you, I always thought pelicans lived in the oceans, or at least next door to them. Did you have any encounters with big furry things while camping?

I had a close encounter with a stuffed Sasquatch at a Sasquatch museum where the patron and two visitors carried on about how they were convinced they saw one recently. While in Yellow Stone many trails were closed with watch out for Grizzly bear activity and was warned repeatedly about proper food storage. Otherwise no.

Well, maybe better luck next time. Don't forget to keep saying "Hey Bear" and carry a can of anti bear spray to spray at them just before they rip your camera from your hands. ;-)
