Moon on the 29th Nov 2017.jpg

I never get tired looking at the moon and taking photos of it, even though many look the same :)

Nice and sharp. Can almost see Armstrong's footprints. Great shot.

Wow, brilliant photo, I'll have to try and get some shots of the moon myself as i've just bought a Sigma 150-600 6.3 DG OS HSM lens for my Canon 1200D.

I'd love to be able to take photos like that, but I don't think my camera's good enough.

Thanks, I am still trying to improve on my moon shots but getting better. I don't know your camera but if it is a fairly recent DSLR then the lens used may be more of a factor than the camera itself for this kind of shot. I used a Tamron 150-600 lens on a Nikon D7200 (on a sturdy tripod with shutter release cable) exposure was manual mode setting it to 1/125th ISO 100 f/6.3 The photo is a 1/1 crop down from the full frame. You may even be able to hire the lens from a shop to try on your camera before buying one and a tripod is a must for sharper shots of the moon I found :), hope the info helps anyone.

I have a Canon SX410 IS basically a point and shoot. Itake my photos primarly for online blog illustrations. I know my camera can do more than I'm doing with it, but it does have limitations. I only cameras that could attach lenses back in film days. Now I just have a Zoom. That stays. Maybe someday.
