Returned to share this one. I saw your comment in my feed. For b&w films (I gather you are in the U.K.) check out:

Regarding analog cameras, check out your local dealer (or online) for used ones. You usually get a warranty for the used ones. Just ask.

I know a professional photographer on Twitter, who told me that b&w films have become a thing again. Films for analog cameras are still produced and there's a very great interest. I think you can still see the difference between digital and analog photography.

I just checked on the link I posted above. I know professionals used Ilford quite a lot. Asking price is 5.45 GBP (that's a 35mm film, ISO 400, 36 exposures and negative). They have different ISOs – but I would suggest that if you are starting out, stick to ISO 400 – it covers a lot and you won't have that many fail shots. Actually, I really did expect the price to be higher. I'd also would do a online search. Maybe you get a reduced price if you take more than one film.

If you can't get it in your town, maybe a store in the next town? Some stores may even be local and just offer to send online. And, some stores just don't carry specific items, but you can ask if they will order it for you. Also, check out with some local photography groups or maybe a professional photographer. They may also be able to give you tips on where to buy.

Thank you :-) BTW, when I got to your answer it said: "42 minutes ago." That's epic. Douglas Adams would have a field day with this … or his fans.
