One of a series of portraits for the "black on black" project.
This focuses on lighting the subject who is sitting or standing in front of a black background. Here the lighting was coming from the left side when looking at the image, and a reflector was used on the right hand side.
I like the symmetry of this pose which is a very flattering pose for all women that I have photographed. This is also one that most people feel comfortable with, as it gives them something to do with their hands, and my experience is that most people ( even photographers ;-) ) often feel very uncomfortable and uneasy for the first few minutes in front of the camera until they can start to relax.
