Blue Herons are one of the Wildlife birds that frequent us here in Florence, Oregon. I often see them in the mornings, walking around the shallows of the Siuslaw River as they hunt for fish. But when the tide is in and the water is too deep, they find creative other ways of scoping out their morning breakfast. Like this guy did one morning as he perched on a mooring ring at the dock and waited. When they see a fish, they plunge their head into the water and spear it with their long beaks.
