I thought I've done the highlight on this trip, But meeting Ka-Tu tribe in Sekong,BAN KOK PHUNG TAI village was one of I can say " EPIC" here i South Laos.
Katu people. ‘Ka’ means mountain. ‘Tu’ means river. ‘Ka-Tu’ – people living in the mountain by the river
Around 700 inhabitants
little over 30 houses
Religion: Animist ( polygamy is allowed within the village )
Kids smoke tobacco as early as age of 3 ( will talk about the " WHY" on my next post)
Marriage: Arranged by parents
Three important people governing the village: the shaman, the guru and the medium woman.
Way of living: Farming ( rice, crops, corns, etc)
Language: have their own language ( not Laos Language)
