William Deighton Murder Memorial, Brearley, West Yorkshire.

You pass this memorial whilst on the Route 66 cycleway at Brearley, West Yorkshire. William Deighton was a tax collector who was murdered in November 1769 by the notorious Cragg Vale Coiners. I'm not sure why the emorial is here as the murder took place in Halifax where Deighton was living. www.colingreenphotography.co.uk
