In the Flow

In the Flow. There is a lot of discussion at the moment, during lockdown, about getting out of one’s comfort zone and trying to grow by exploring a different style of photography, particularly one that could be done at home, like macro photography. Or maybe there is not more discussion but as I get older and grumpier, I am getting more sensitive to the concept of a “comfort zone” which I think is a load of bollocks. If you do something well and enjoy it then do more of it, get in the flow, or in the moment, which is where I find myself a lot. If you are concentrating on a composition, then it is hard to think about much else which is one reason why I find photography therapeutic. On the other hand, compliance zone is something else entirely and most photographers will be in this zone trying to please by conforming, just observe the many fashions in photography on Instagram to see what I mean.

This is lovely. I would tend to agree on the comfort zone bit. Surely if you too much out of your zone and you're not enjoying it, it defeats the object. As you say one of the reasons we all take photos, is due to it being therapeutic and a real enjoyment. What ever you're doing, it appears to be working.

Thanks and thanks for sharing. Yes, it was the light that attracted me to this bud and because it's on the edge of a slope with nothing close behind it I thought the background would turn out nicely.
