Hovering Tern Slow Shutter Experiment

Back to watch the Terns once again today and had some photos I would like to try in my mind.

One of the things I wanted to try was to see what would come out if I slowed my shutter speed as much as possible and took a photo of a Tern whilst hovering looking for fish. They keep there head and torso almost completely still, but flap there wings really fast.

So here is one of the images, I really want to try and drop the shutter speed even further to see if I can get the wings smoother and more blurred, but will have to be on a slightly more overcast day(just got the sun and here I am wishing it away...hehe)....or find a filter for a 'BIG' lens ;)

This is a super image Dylan, lighting, subject and love the slower shutter speed giving motion to the wings. Been experimenting more with this technique myself, think it brings more dynamism into the image, well captured.

Another great Tern. Different than the last one I remember but they're both really beautiful captures.
