Shoot

In a rain forest a fern shoot sprouts to make a new leaf - I wonder why nature would give it a deep purple color?

Very pretty. Maybe purple is less/more noticeable to creatures that see other spectrums or only in black and white.

Thank you, Leigh. I would like to know why it starts out such a deep purple-these are not the edible fiddle fern type, so...Thank you for sharing, and I knew I was going to take macro/closeup shots in the forest so I brought a little spray bottle with me :)

I didn't know some were edible :). Purple is so interesting, I don't think I've ever seen it.

At the top, water pearls are larger. But the little ones in purple are the top of the ice cream. They are wonderful.
