Thrombolites

Thrombolites are rock like structures believed to be living fossils and can be up to 570 million years old and can be found only in a handful of places on the planet. These are lying just under the surface at Lake Clifton in Western Australia. It was a bright day and lots of glare on the water so a polarizer is an absolute must to photograph them.

Beautifully photographed! I’d love to see these myself one day. Lived in WA for a time and never did while we were there.
