Painted

this is a look inside the little church on the hill as seen on my previous picture titled In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. The name of this church is called Painted Church. Someone gave it's name a lot of thought and imagination :-) It is a sanctuary and place of worship with regular services.

Beautiful. Unusual, probably unique church interior. You captured this so well. The balance of the light is great. Weren't the windows were blown out compared to the interior light? Some HDR?

Thank you very much Mark! I specifically came here late in the day because I knew the sun light would be streaming into the church door from behind me. I did not expect the light to be all over the place with extreme highlights and shadows. Yes, this is a 5 variable exposure shot stacked and I guess this would make it an HDR. Thank you very much for looking, commenting and sharing!

You wouldn't want to go there for early morning service with a hangover.

Haha! I think the wide angle lens adds to the effect of being a bit dizzying.

Thank you very much, Marius! Officially named St. Benedict Catholic Church. I am sure the paintings have been retouched since the original priest painted them almost 120 years ago.

Thank you very much, Ontologys Dreamscape! The church was built around 1899 and the Belgian priest used these frescos to teach the native Hawaiians spiritual lessons.

It sits in a contrast to the ornate cathedrals. Reckon I’d feel more comfortable here.

Thank you very much, Denise. Just as I arrived a family of tourists had arrived at the same time. I sat and waited for them to leave, but then they decided to sit too. We sat in silence and enjoyed the paintings and wonderful vibes of this place for 20 minutes! Wonderful!

Thank you Mike! It's a very small church, beautiful in a local way. Many times Hawaii makes me feel like I am in an undeveloped country :-)

Great POV, beautiful colours, love the ceiling/sky, beach, sea and birds. I think it has too many distractions to be able to concentrate on the sermon :)
