Biography

Hi & thanks for stopping by to look at my images.

I'm an amateur photographer living in a small rural town in Australia. I have loved taking photos since I got my hands on my Mum's old camera a very long time ago!!!

Whatever camera I owned it came everywhere with me. I owned my first SLR at 18 & cried the day it died taking scenic shots in Adelaide!

I eventually purchased another about 6 yrs later. It wasn't until 2012 that I made the plunge to upgrade to a DSLR the Canon 60D which I'm still using.

I'm currently interested in taking photo's of anything other than people! I have a fascination with macro. I love the fine details.

I currently shoot with a Canon 60D using their twin lens kit EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS ii & EF-S 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS ii. I purchased the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM and love it.

I'm hoping to improve my kit with better lenses & a more stable tripod!!!

We did a drive of the South Coast from Eden to Kiama in 2010 over 9 nights. It is beautiful & it is small coastal towns not touristy at all. i'm planning to add a fw of the photos on here at some stage :)

This looks beautiful. Can't say I'm a lover of modern buildings but there is something appealing about structures that can produce a dynamic array of changing images whether is be the changing of the light, the weather or the environment which surrounds them. There is a building in Sydney that I was wanting to photograph but time constraints stopped me . Maybe next time :)

It was the cat that brought our attention to it. He was sitting there quite bemused by it all. After the echidna finally moved off Charlie (the cat) then went & peed right where the echidna had been to mark his territory back!!! I got a photo of that too lol :)

The kookaburra is a tree kingfisher. A sub family of the kingfishers. Although out bush it doesn't get too many fish lol. Just small lizards etc :)

It was on a family outing to the beach but wasn't expecting the local bird life to get so close. It's usually only the seagulls that visit!

I only knew them as 'black boys' which is now not used so I had to google that & good old Wikipedia came up with the yakka & other names lol. I think It depends on where you are as to what they're known as. It did mention Balga :)

Yes - we grew up with black boys too. Now we tend to use grass trees. I'm also not surprised they would have so many names from around the traps. Each language group would have their word for them. They are incredibly fascinating plants regardless of what they can be called.

I couldn't remember the grass tree name (mind blank - not uncommon!) The guy who lives behind us has heaps on his place I will have to go up there one day with my camera - he's an old 'Camera House' owner so he might give me some photography tips while I'm going :0
