Biography

Hi and thanks for stopping by my page.
I am a hobby photographer and my photos are original content taken mostly in and around beautiful Prince Edward Island, Canada.
Living with a forest in my backyard and my love of animals, I try to capture the beauty of the earth and the wonders I see each day. The humor I see in nature sometimes comes through in the photos.

Hi Joanne - My wife and I have 2 weeks on PEI and was wondering, if you have the time , could share some of photo locations that you feel best represent PEI. Thanks for your help. We are traveling in our RV and are in Harrington RV park near Charlottetown.

Nice vibe coming from this one, Joe. I like the composition/crop – traditionally you would give the surfer space to run into – but this one gives the impression that he cannot wait to hit the surf. Also interesting how he has his head in the cloud...

Thank you very much, Irene! Hope all is well with you and you've been busy taking pictures or something fun. I know that I should have the subject entering the frame, but often times I don't do that, and you are right it does give a sense of urgency with the surfer's position. I have a few canoe paddler pics where they are going out of the frame too if that interests you. I must say either I don't care what is "right" or traditional since I've always been a person that breaks, bends or simply does not follow rules and I also believe I can have my cake and eat it too. Haha! I'm really an odd ball in case you haven't figured it out and I'm also not one to hold back my thoughts or words. I just hope I don't offend or insult too much if at all :-)

G'day Joe! Yes, I have been harvesting photos across Europe, although it is mostly tops of buildings. The harvest will require time to fully ripen, as I am not as organised as some folks who can process and upload while they are still travelling! – I would like to see the canoe paddlers! – Not easily offended and a bit of an odd person myself, as when it comes to my photographs my creative side always battles with my perfectionist (or pedantic) side, and thus the technical side usually wins. Much easier to admire other folks who break the so-called rules!

I'm glad the Eastern Bluebird is common in your region. Where is your region? I've only seen a few in my lifetime in Kentucky where I'm from. I'm in Florida now and I've never seen one here, but there is an abundance of Blue Jays. Beautiful photo!!!

I live in Chesapeake Virginia. I have never seen an Eastern Bluebird in Chesapeake or any of the near-by cities (Virginia Beach,Norfolk or Portsmouth).I took this shot in just 50 miles west of Chesapeake,in the town of Ivor,Va. They were in abundance out there. I learned from the local residents that they are pretty common in Ivor. Thank you for your view and comment.

Thank you vision, if I don't read the news, I don't know anything that's going on with the volcano. I am about 30 miles away and aside from the earthquakes a couple of weeks ago it's been quiet. The eruption is on only one part of the island and lucky for us here in Hilo the winds are not blowing the gasses our way, but the rest of the island communities are suffering with horrible air! Thanks again!

No it wasn't snow. It was white rock. Now we came to El Morro a day earlier than we planned because rain in the lower area around Grants, NM, was calling for rain and we checked at even though it was late-April rain at the lower elevations meant a dusting of snow at El Morro and we would not be allowed to climb to the top. They can have dustings of snow into May on the top of the Mesa.

Thank you very much, Mark! I know what you mean and find that my favorite shutter speed for water on dark sand is 1.6 seconds. Sun never really came out behind the clouds so I had to shoot it a little longer than my preferred speed.

This is a great shot, I like the b&w. Did you use any filters?

Thank you very much, Howard! I did not use any filters on this one, but it was a cloudy, misty morning and was too cloud covered for any direct sunlight. Thank you very much for sharing!

Great shot. They spend a lot of energy chasing other Hummingbirds away. They are fun to watch.

Thanks Joe. I served in that war,it's hard for me to watch the Ken Burns series. However I can understand your respect for these young people that volunteer to put it all on the line for us. I pray for their success and safety.

Wow vision, you are my new HERO! I was too young to know about the Vietnam war when it was happening. After watching the Ken Burns series, I just wanted to HUG all the Vietnam veterans. By the end of the series I was in tears and so pissed at the US government for their actions. At the same time I was in awe of the troops, their strength and courage. I must say-THANK You for your service!

Thank you so much Joe.I appreciate your thoughts. Fifty years ago we were not welcomed home with the same patriotic fervor that the men and women returning from the middle east experience today.

Hi, Vision! I just watched the Ken Burns series on Vietnam. It's been on netflix and I was riveted and left with renewed respect for our service men and women. It left me with even less faith in our political leaders though. Your image here caught my eye-excellent!
