Lovely portrait of this bird :) You need to relabel it as a Least Sandpiper though...

Ooops. Is it a bad thing to spill herb infused olive oil over your lens? And it's not a weather sealed one either. Have to say the zoom is nice & smooth now though.

Probably just let it stand with the front element facing down and zoomed out, if it will stay in position. If any oil seeped past the gasket it will collect there and try to run down to the front, as long as it didn't get too far inside

It smells very herby that's for sure. The outside wiped off just fine. But I'm not sure how much got in around the focus & zoom rings. It was mainly at the front end, so around where the front elements zoom out. Time will tell, seems ok so far. Just get an oily film around the front barrel when it's zoomed out each time. Luckily nothing on the camera body and the lens is my 18-135 mm STM, not a silly price "L" lens.

On the outside you can wipe it off.....eventually, if it gets to the working and electrickery bits...mmm. At least it should smell nice.
