This is all that remains of the church at Thundridgebury near Ware in Hertfordshire, UK.

There has been a church on this site since Saxon times. The 15th Century tower and the gravestones are all that stand now. The church was in a state of disrepair in the middle of the 19th century and it was decided to build a new church in the middle of the village. The bells were taken from here to the new church tower, and the chancel and nave were demolished.

A few services were still held here including burials - some of the parishioners wanted to be closer to their families after death!

In the 20th and 21st century the tower fell into a state of disrepair. It is a listed building but sadly listing doesn't mean protection if there are no funds available!
