A small house, two up two down and lean to stands alone on the side of the road somewhere in the Fens, Cambridgeshire, England. The garden has become overgrown and the roof is alone. It was once a home but now it stands empty waiting to fall down and be pulled down.
I was cycling through the Fens, one of my favourite places especially when there was such a great sky overhead. As I cycled along I noticed a few abandoned cottages on the roadside.
For me it is a place to visit but for others it is a place to live and a place to work. Today there is less work in the countryside so people are having to move away to seek opportunities elsewhere, leaving behind the shell of their home.
On the same stretches of road I also a number of expensive new builds. There are homes but I am guessing they are not for the likes of the people who would once have lived here.
