The river through Prague Moldau

The river was regulated from 1840 to around 1910, the banks raised to prevent flooding and secured with stone walls. The islands were also given stone fortifications and tree plantings to stabilize the soil. This gradually gave the islands their current appearance. The last flood of the century in 2002 and 2013 led to further extensive measures to prevent future flooding.
