Trifolium incarnatum [Crimson clover]

Trifolium incarnatum is an herbaceous flowering plant in the family Fabaceae, native to Eurasia. As an upright annual herb, it reaches a height of 20 to 50 cm and features trifoliate leaves. During spring and summer, it produces elongated spike inflorescences bearing creamy white to crimson flowers. It has been introduced to non-native regions, including Japan, the United States, and Britain. It is utilized in agriculture as a nitrogen-fixing cover crop, livestock forage, and for erosion control. The flowers and seedling sprouts are also edible.

イタリアゲンゲは、マメ科シャジクソウ属の草本植物であり、ユーラシア原産の一年草です。草丈は20～50センチメートルに達し、三出複葉を有します。春から夏にかけて、クリーム色から深紅色の花を穂状花序に形成します。本種は原産地外（日本、米国、英国などを含む）にも導入されており、農業分野において窒素固定を目的とした緑肥、家畜用飼料、および土壌浸食防止のために広く栽培されています。加えて、花および新芽は食用として利用可能です。
