Bunting Fly-by

5th September 2026
8/2026 Grand Canyon, Arizona. A lucky shot on our 3rd morning at the Grand Canyon, an Indigo Bunting flew through my pictures of the sunlight coming through this tunnel on the Bright Angel Trail near where we stayed at Maswik Lodge. We had plans to sleep in and take it easy that morning before traveling up to Monument Valley. I was up a little earlier, so I went to take some post-sunrise pics before we had to be ready to meet with our friends for the drive. The Bunting just happened to fly through and I was very lucky that my camera's depth of field allowed for it to be in focus. I hadn't ever seen one in person before, and while at the Canyon I managed to see two! I was thrilled to find that I had managed to capture this moment. I am so happy that we were able to go to the Grand Canyon, and to spend that time with friends. Even with no professional equipment it is hard to take a bad photo, especially when lucky enough to have the wildlife come through my lens. A beautiful place to be, and The National Park Service has done a great job to help folks be able to see such an amazing place.
