Misty Mountains

In the late evening light, fully grown trees look impossibly small clinging to the endless cliff face in the Yellow mountains (Huang Shan) China.
A fleeting glimpse during a rare break in the almost constant surrounding mist and clouds.
Trees and bushes cling onto the tiniest cracks and plateaus, in this misty and humid climate.
Many tourists trudge thousands of steps up and around the mountains. They nervously shuffle on the narrow slippery pathways clinging to near vertical cliffs with thousand foot drops just over the low guard rails. Hoping to glimpse the incredible hidden scenery through the thick ever changing mist and clouds which usually evelope this incredible place.
The clouds give up occasional fleeting cameos so stunning and fairytale like, they are hard to believe.
Many traditional Chinese paintings are based on this location, depicting fantastical mountains with impossible vertical cliffs and the trees clinging to them. The paintings are unbelievably true to life. This is one incredible place!
