The National Pike Toll House

Historic Toll House on the National Pike outside of Frostburg, MD {11007} The National Road was originally built as a private venture and tolls charged for its use. Such roads were typically in better condition than the plain dirt surfaced. Travelers would have to stop and go pay the toll.
