Larry Redmond has always had an interest in visual art. As a child, he used to draw comic book characters like Superman and Batman and all the Disney characters. When he entered college, he had hoped to major in art. However, at that time, the newly opened branch of the state school he attended didn't have an art department. Now, he expresses himself visually through photography. He loves photographing life in the street, especially marches and demonstrations. But his interest is expanding to fine art photography. He also does portraits and still lifes. It is his hope that each of his pieces speaks for itself. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he majored in Philosophy and minored in English. He later attended the John Marshall Law School, earning a Juris Doctor degree. He studied art and photography at Chicago State University where he developed his passion for documentary photography and photojournalism. He became a member of the Chicago Alliance of African-American Photographers because he appreciated the organization's dedication to documenting the Black experience worldwide through images. He is now a past president of that organization. He is a past member of the Washington Park Camera Club. He currently lives in Chicago with his wife and family.
